The PhD Program in Economics aims to educate students to become world class and globally competitive academicians or practitioners. Advanced core theory courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics are complemented by advanced versions of field courses. The program's language is English.

Admission Requirements
- If the candidate has only an undergraduate degree, Minimum undergraduate GPA: 3.50/4.00 or 88.33/100.
- If the candidate has a masters degree, Minimum master's GPA: 3.10/4.00 or 79/100.
- Minimum ALES (Equally weighted): 80 or Minimum GRE (Quantitative): 156.
- Minimum YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL/e-YÖKDİL: 65 or Minimum TOEFL: 78.

Program Structure
- The doctoral candidate is required to complete a total of 24 credits. Four of these are compulsory courses, which are coded in the 600 series. The remaining four courses must be selected from the elective course pool, which includes courses coded in the 500 series. In addition, the candidate is required to attend non-credit seminar courses.
- A candidate who passes the qualifying exam will be eligible to begin writing their doctoral dissertation. In order to take the qualifying exam, the candidate must have completed all 24 credits and have a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- PhD students who are admitted in 2022-2023 Spring and after, have to take and pass one of the career development courses(LEE Coded). (Compulsory)
