Erasmus+ Program Information

Outgoing Students

Erasmus+ allows you the opportunity to study abroad at a partner department in Europe, while continuing to pay tuition and fees to your home institution (İTÜ).  The duration is usually one but sometimes up to two semesters, during either your 3rd or 4th year of study. Credits earned for courses taken overseas will count towards your İTÜ degree, as will your grade point average earned while participating in your program.

Applications for Erasmus+ student mobility for the fall semester must be made to the İTÜ Erasmus Office, located in the Student Services Building on the Ayazağa campus, by early February. The exact deadlines can be found on the Erasmus office website when the announcement has been made. Applications may be made electronically, through a link on the Erasmus office website. When submitting your application you will need to list our desired partner institutions and supply your academic transcripts as well as proof of language proficiency.

The Erasmus office will rank applicants according to information provided, with a 50% weight placed on language proficiency and a 50% weight placed upon your academic prowess (GPA).  The Erasmus office will send the rankings of top applicants to their departmental Erasmus coordinators. The coordinators then conduct oral interviews to assess spoken language proficiency, after which a speaking component is added to the score and applicants within the department are re-ranked. Finally, students are matched with their preferred partner departments according to their rank until all desired program slots have been filled.

After this you will be formally sponsored by İTÜ for Erasmus+ mobility and information concerning this sponsorship will be provided to the partner institution.  It will then by your responsibility to formally apply for Erasmus+ exchange enrollment through the website of the partner institution.  You must meet with your departmental Erasmus coordinator in order to decide upon a program of study, there may also be other requirements by specific partner institutions such as health insurance.  You will be responsible for contacting Erasmus representatives at the partner institution in order to learn specific requirements.

In order to take advantage of Erasmus+ student mobility opportunities it is necessary for your department to have an inter-institutional agreement with another department at that partner institution.  Below you will find a list of partner institutions with which the İTÜ economics department has an interinstitutional agreement and their locations:
